After a long year of trials amid a global pandemic, the OSECC is wrapping up its Next Gen 911 trials.
Beginning in 2019, it became apparent there was an immediate need for future capabilities with NG911. With more users switching to smartphones with texting, keeping current with modern trends and technologies is crucial.
Staff began planning and purchasing with an initial installation date of Fall 2019. From there, our staff worked with Bell Canada and various vendors to develop a solution that did not yet exist. Growing this partnership was crucial in attaining a class leading position upon the conclusion of the trials.
With Real Time Texting coming soon and NG911 set to launch later this year, the OSECC will be among the first in Canada to deliver this service to its 300, 000 residents.
